You inspired me! I dusted off my library card and took Kate to the library today. We came home with a similar stack of books, including two for me. I picked up "The Read Aloud Handbook" by Jim Trelease and "The Between the Lions Book for Parents: Everything You Need To Know to Help Your Child Learn to Read." It was my initial stab at finding books to help me encourage Kate to love reading (as opposed to books that tell you how to turn your child into a precocious reading protege!). I would welcome your comments or other book suggestions...
Hi Jen, Thanks for your generous comment! You made my day!!!! The Read Aloud Handbook is one of my all time favorites. You've just inspired me to do a dedicated post about it! And I haven't read the "Between the Lions..." book yet - another inspiration! Thanks for the great suggestion. I'll definetly start posting more book reccomendations. In the meantime, have you checked out the links in my Books I Love section yet? The Lit for Kids blog has weekly posts of terrific book reccomendations that are good books - not prodigy makers. ;) Year of Reading has daily posts for readers at a variety of levels. They tend to focus more on new releases. Happy Reading!
